It's been quite awhile, but we're finally back to the Blog.
I am on the hunt for a Baedeker's Great Britain 1887 true first edition ( E 215 ) in fine or near fine condition for a collector.
Yesterday was the monthly sojourn to the flea market to sell off low-end books . In the "people are strange" department, I tried to trade boxes of hardcover novels for two old travel guides to a regular market dealer who is perpetually down on his luck, but he spurned my offer. Needless to say, I didn't buy his books and carted mine books home.
Is it just me, or has this been the slowest week for vintage and collectible book sales in history ? Don't get me wrong, I've had plenty of customer contact. In fact, the emails have flown fast and furious, but few seem to be in a buying mood. I've answered a gazillion questions on maps, illustrations, edition dates, condition, etc., etc. .I've sent dozens of photos & scans around the world. One valued collector/customer emailed me night and day while he was on his seaside holidays, but decided not to buy after all.
